cheesecake!

cheesecake has to be my absolute favorite dessert. my cholesterol suffers because of that but i still love it anyway. usually when you think of cheesecake, you think of the cheesecake factory. this popular chain is always crowded and their unwillingness to take reservations boggles my mind. their food really doesn’t impress me but i can’t deny that they make pretty good cakes. i usually just go for the simple vanilla bean cheesecake but i’ve recently discovered an even better flavor.

the lemoncello cream torte is actually listed under the restaurant’s specialty desserts and is $6.95 a slice or $46.95 for the whole cake. with “layers of vanilla cake and lemon mascarpone cream topped with streusel,” this cake truly makes my tastebuds sing and dance. now why am i even bothering to tell you about this delicious but pricey cake? you can get it for much cheaper! at costco, you can find the entire cake for just under $14 (i believe it’s actually $13.79)! besides the fresh cut strawberries and whipped cream you get at the restaurant, i’ve yet to taste any difference with the frozen cake versus the fresh one. i actually enjoy the firmer texture of the mascarpone cream when it is frozen.

costco also sells the cheesecake factory variety pack of four different popular flavors but i definitely like the lemoncello cream torte much more. if you love cheesecake and have enough self control not to eat the entire thing in one sitting, definitely pick one of these up the next time you’re at your local warehouse. it’s worth every penny.
